R2045 Work Summary

Summary of our action and work towards the R2045 Green Future project.

ACTION

Reforestation of Sumatra and Kalimantan

Reforestation of Sumatra and Kalimantan Island Rainforest primarily with Dryobalanops Aromatica. Kalimantan and Sumatra have Swamp and Sandy terrain-like, which is the original habitat of Dryobalanops Aromatica.

RESEARCH

Vegetative Propagation

Vegetative propagation by stem cutting, conducted inside aseptic tissue culture materials at the Plant Tissue Culture Laboratory of TechnoNatura.

The media used in this experiment are Murashige Skoog (MS) and Woody Plant Medium (WPM). While Hormones variations that are used are IBA, BAP, and Gibberellic Acid.

RESEARCH

Cloning Dryobalanops

Plants are cloned to produce identical plants quickly and economically. Producing new plants by cloning is quicker than allowing plants to reproduce than collecting and sowing seeds. It's therefore an effective way of producing new individuals from rare and endangered plants, helping to preserve the species.

Sterilizations happen In-situ and at Lab. Mediums that are used are Murashige Skoog (MS), Woody Plant Medium (WPM), and Gamborg. We also use Sitokinin, Auxin, Gibberellic Acid, and BAP for the cloning' Hormones.
